Play & Pretend: SP: 4. Sportsmanship - Story

This lesson differentiates between social game play and competitions. Children are helped to understand the importance of friendship and fun during social game play and the importance of sportsmanship during competitions. The lesson highlights how their friendships can be affected when they take social game play too seriously. It also reminds children of how being a bad sport can negatively reflect on their and their team’s reputation. Finding the balance between striving to win and accepting a loss is a challenge for everyone. Some children need more support finding the fine line between the two than others.
