Play & Pretend: PP: 5. Taking Turns - Story

Turn taking sets the stage for reciprocal communication and practices the send and receive nature of social communication.  This is wonderfully practiced when children take turns with toys or activities. Turn taking begins with toys but can move on to taking turns to speak, to lead, or even to win.  It is an important precursor for understanding the needs and desires of others are as important as our own needs and desires.
