This story moves on to greeting unfamiliar adults. It’s Important for children to know that they can have good manners with strangers but they should also be careful. The story provides some do’s and don’ts for meeting strangers. Children learn that they can greet the adult politely, tell them their first name, ask a trusted adult if the stranger is safe, and tell a trusted adult if the stranger is making them feel uncomfortable.
Children also learn that they shouldn’t give the stranger their surname or address, they don’t need to hug or kiss them, they shouldn’t go in their car, and they shouldn’t be alone with them. Some examples of safe strangers are provided and children are encouraged to check with a trusted adult if they are uncertain about a stranger.
