Faces & Feelings: JP: 8. What To Do When I Feel Sad - Story
This is the last story of the module and looks to teach children that sadness is a normal emotion and it’s okay to cry. Some children need to have space to cry on their own and others need an adult to comfort them. Many children need to be given permission to feel sad, cry, and release their sad feelings. If they don’t do this, these feelings can come out in other inappropriate ways such as anger outbursts. Adults often feel uncomfortable with children expressing sad feelings and try to make them feel better. In fact, tears release specific chemicals from the body and are proven to help someone feel better after a good cry. This week’s lesson helps both adults and children to see the importance of releasing their sad feelings and gives healthy ways of expressing and releasing these sad feelings.
