Faces & Feelings: JP: 5. The Sadness Thermometer - Story
This lesson explores the different range of sad feelings. Children learn three degrees of sadness, from disappointed (mild), to sad/unhappy (moderate), to devastated (severe). Identifying disappointed and sad feelings as being more manageable from feeling devastated is important for learning how to cope with these feelings. Some children cry too quickly for little disappointments and others are ashamed of crying even when it is necessary or helpful for them to do so. Later on in the module, children will learn how to help themselves feel better when they are feeling sad.
