Chit & Chat: SP: 3. Accepting Correction - Story
This story reminds children that we all learn and grow from making mistakes and doing hard things. Part of learning is being able to learn from others. Many children perceive “correction” as “criticism” and feel inferior or embarrassed when corrected. Children are reminded that mistakes are learning opportunities and “correction” by someone is a good way to learn and grow. Children are also encouraged to ask for help when they need it. This addresses theory of mind, where certain children may lack the awareness that others’ can’t read their minds and don’t automatically know what they need. They need to communicate their needs to get the help they require.
